For quite a few years Saltmine has supported the shipping of many tons of aid goods to Sliven by Bulgaria Aid, a Walsall-based charity. Eileen and Roger Wilcox coordinate this charity, set up as a three year Millennium project in 1997 by Walsall based churches.

Donated goods, received from many sources, are stored at warehousing in Walsall and are shipped twice a year in 40ft containers, each costing £1750 to ship; roughly £30  per cubic metre of goods. Aid from Saltmine partners has already gone to Bulgaria via the Walsall link on several occasions, including goods from Tiverton, Loughborough, Norwich and the Spring Harvest 'Owl & Pussycat' toy appeal.
